The month of September started with us arriving in Cape Town. We stayed at Cape Town Backpackers, which was just a street over from Long Street. Long Street is a very popular street in Cape Town, with vintage stores, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, book stores, gift shops, markets, everything. I am generally not a fan of cities, but I really liked Cape Town. It was so different from any other city I have been to. Most cities have a rush to them, a business and a crowdedness. Cape Town was a city, and there were many people, but it was very relaxed. We visited the Botanical Gardens, District Six museum, Truth Cafe, climbed Lion’s Head, had a picnic at Signal Hill, walked around the city A LOT, took a tour of a castle and watched a worker fire a cannon, and took a city tour.
One of the best parts of Cape Town was when I went skydiving. It was amazing. I enjoyed it so much that I would do it again in a heartbeat. On the ground, I was a bit nervous, especially when the workers said I was going first. However, the minute the plane took of, I was calm. I love flying, I love heights, and I was excited. I had to sit with my legs hanging out of the plane for about 45 seconds (which is a lot of time when you're miles above the Earth’s surface) because I was first and the plane had to find the right place to land. To me, the best part was the 30 second free fall. The gliding down was fun as well, but I really enjoyed the free fall. We also visited many places such as Bolder Beach. I wanted to climb Table Mountain, but it was too cloudy and closed on all the days we were there. The view from the top of Lion’s head was amazing.
